Christianity (LDS) Perspective
Mr. Graham Sanderson
Mr. Graham Sanderson
Graham Sanderson has served in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 1974 in various roles, including ecclesiastical leader for a number of congregations, teacher, and youth leader. He serves in the Vancouver BC Temple and has recently been called to serve as the spokesperson for the future Victoria BC Temple.
Graham is married to Lyanne and cherishes the opportunities to minister alongside her, both formally and informally. Together, they have 2 children and 6 grandchildren.
Now retired from a career in public service, Graham coordinated Risk Management programs for the Government of BC and for Island Health. Since retiring, he has volunteered as a facilitator with Saanich Peninsula Restorative Justice and has served on the Board of Directors for Beacon Community Services.
As a Risk Manager, Graham worked across all sectors of organizations to prevent adverse events and to mitigate their impact when they occurred. He regularly applied his Conflict Resolution training to moderate, mediate, and negotiate—helping bring parties together through interest-based solutions. He sees a direct connection between these skills and the principles of religion: offering guidance, strength, and comfort to individuals, while also providing the foundational values needed by those entrusted with leading, presiding, and governing at all levels of society.
Graham believes that as people of faith, we have a collective responsibility to use the structural elements of our beliefs to build bridges—not only among ourselves, but across every part of the communities, countries, and world in which we live.
